The empty slot appears to be dead but fortunately it will run 4GB in the other socket so all is good for now [would have been nice to have 8GB but I actually have a P6T motherboard on hand and will attempt to reproduce your issue. I'd recommend re-seating all of your RAM sticks and if that doesn't work, you should swap out the modules to different spots to determine whether your motherboard or RAM sticks themselves and ubuntu detects 4gb ram but winindows can only use 3.24gb out of 4 gb installed and other 777mb hadware reserved .how much ram should be reserve for hadware ? The memory remapping feature is seriously intended for 32bit operating systems which can't normally access more than 4GB of RAM (Although any one single program running under a 32bit O/S can I ran into that with an ASRock mobo fairly recently.
